Paul was asked to be a groomsman in our friend Corey's wedding so we made a road trip to the mountains of northeast Georgia last weekend for the occasion. Corey graduated from NewSchool the year before Paul and we hadn't seen him or Paul's other friends from that year in a year or more so we were really excited to get to hang out with all of them for the weekend. We knew the wedding was going to be at a lake but we had no idea just how magnificently beautiful the setting would be.
The last hour of the drive was spent winding our way up and into the mountains, following alongside the huge, winding mountain lake, Lake Rabun. We passed gorgeous lake house after gorgeous lake house each with its own adorable boathouse fit for Southern Living magazine. The trees were, of course, all ablaze in oranges, purples, pinks, yellows, and reds and the weather was just perfect -- a little crisp but not uncomfortable. That part of Georgia was one of the most unexpectedly beautiful places I've ever been and we thoroughly enjoyed being there to celebrate with Corey and Jenny. Of course, none of my pictures do it justice -- I'm kicking myself for not having my good camera with me, but like I said, never did I expect it to be so pretty!
The rehearsal dinner was held outside in the front yard of the cabin at the ceremony site. They had an amazingly delicious food truck drive all the way from Atlanta for the occasion.
The ceremony was held on this little peninsula of land in front of a beautiful tree as boats cruised by and the sun began to set. It was seriously one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever been to.

Loved this sign Jenny made!
Corey's dad provided guitar music for the
ceremony and it was so lovely!
San Diego buddies
The reception was held at a gorgeous pavilion
complete with a stone fireplace on one side.
The band was totally awesome. I'm such
a sucker for brass instruments!
A thumbprint tree served as the guest book
We, and most everyone else, danced our butts off all night.
Love dancing with this man -- he's got serious moves, folks!
The send-off -- they arrived and left the ceremony in a boat.
The whole weekend was really nice and relaxing and Paul and I had such a good time getting away and spending some time with each other and our long-lost friends.
I think this was supposed to
be a beard hug? Haha
The only downside to being in such a beautiful, remote location was the "remote" part. We had almost no cellphone service the whole weekend so I was constantly walking around with my phone in the air trying to get just one bar so I could call my mom and check on/talk to Wilder. I knew he was in good hands but I missed his sweet voice like crazy. Every now and then the stars would align just right and I would get a picture text that she had sent hours before. It was fun to see what he was up to while we were gone :)
She said he told her this was his sailboat haha
Showing off his new fireman rain boots. She tried them
on him and then he refused to take them off long enough
to put pants on, hence the following pants-less pictures.
Showing us his raccoon hat
Oops!
Congrats Mr. and Mrs. Woodward! We were so happy to be a part of your beautiful wedding weekend and we hope your new life together is even more beautiful!
