Little Artist

Wilder loves loves loves to color. We probably spend at least a 1/4 of every day either coloring with markers inside or coloring with sidewalk chalk outside. For several months now he's been able to draw circles, lines, and dots when I ask him to. But when we're drawing together, he's always telling me things to draw, like baseball bats and voom-vooms (motorcycles), while he scribbles. I never really thought that he was paying attention to how I drew things but in the last couple of weeks he's started to draw things himself that actually look like what he says they are supposed to be.

I posted this picture in a previous post but these flowers are the first things I noticed that looked like what he said they were:
Then he started drawing baseball bats (from two days ago on the left and from today on the right):
Yesterday he drew two motorcycles -- primitive looking for sure, but still, two wheels and a body across the center. I know I'm biased but, for his age, I was impressed:
And he's drawn three triangles in the last couple of days, but this is the only one I've gotten a picture of:
The other day he made me draw a baseball bat as usual. I then moved on to something else but when I heard him saying, "Color -- bat," I turned back to find that he had filled in the bat and had stayed in the lines really well except right at the top there.
Please note that I am not posting this for any reason other than documenting it for myself. I'm not trying to compare or brag. We're not around a lot of other children his age so I don't even know if it's something to brag about. Stuff like this may be typical for this age, I don't know. I guess, in a way, I just still see him as my tiny newborn baby so it impresses me for him to be able to do stuff like this.
