Love Day 2013

The week before Valentine's Day Wilder and I sat down and made Valentines to send to all the people we love. He had fun choosing which stickers to put on them and saying who each one was for. We made an extra special one for his girlfriend, Lexi :)
We had a wonderful Valentine's Day this year. When Wilder woke up I gave him his little Love Day happies, which included something I was so excited to give him -- a Spiderman mask. We've never been big into characters with Wilder but somehow he has become obsessed with Spiderman over the last few months so I couldn't wait to see his reaction to his very own mask.
He had to put it on immediately of course
Then we had cinnamon toast for breakfast, which was a treat and a break from our usual cereal or oatmeal, and watched some Curious George.
Sweet sleepy smiles :)
And of course I had to try to get an official Valentine's Day picture of him like I have every other year. I love doing these and seeing how much he changes from year to year. Here are the previous two...
2011 at 12 weeks old
2012 at almost 15 months old
2013 at almost 27 months old
...and not feeling very cooperative
 Making monkey noises
2nd attempt
 Yeah right, Mom
 Fake smile
I asked him to act like he was really happy.
This was not what I was going for haha :-/
And, of course, we had to get one with the Spiderman mask.
Later in the morning we went to storytime, to which he insisted on wearing his mask, haha!
And then we had a little lunch date to Chick-fil-A, our favorite.
Paul and I have never been big into getting each other extravagant gifts for Valentine's Day so I gave him a couple of his favorite snacks and he gave me some beautiful tulips and delish doughnuts. He sure knows the way to my heart! :)
Wilder was so excited to receive Valentines from Lexi and some of our family. Here he is showing off the dollar my grandmother sent him in her card. He was so proud. He took it to the hobby store when he went with Paul the next weekend and bought a Matchbox car with his very own money. See? Valentine's Day has become so commercialized and such a "Who has the most romantic partner?" contest on Facebook but, really, it's the little thoughtful things that mean the most.
