... can keep us inside this winter. When you have a 2-year-old who never stops, the playing never stops no matter how cold and yucky the weather is. Here's how we've been entertaining ourselves this winter in the great outdoors.
Except on the absolute coldest or rainiest days we have ventured outside for at least a little while each day this winter. In other words, I can probably count on one hand the number of days that we have not gone outside at all. Therefore, I am now weathered and strong like the heartiest of Eskimos by this point. And Wilder? It's almost like he doesn't even notice the wind or the cold or the rain. The little heifer is probably just glad it's not 100 degrees like it was this past summer. As long as he's outside, he's a happy camper. And besides being miserably cold, I love exploring with him.
Digging in the dirt/mud has been a
favorite activity as of late
Sweet boy leaning on me and playing
Love holding this little boy's hand :)
Digging for worms
A hazard of being so attracted to mud
is that sometimes you fall in it...
Another favorite activity this winter has been
touring the countryside in his very own little jeep.
And the boy can actually, legitimately drive the thing!
He can steer between trees and even steer over toys in
the yard and make them go between his tires
where he doesn't run over them.
He drove up the hill and "parked" it in his "garage" haha
Pit stop
Trying to whack me with a blade of grass
Had to drive over to say "hi" to the neighbor cows
Sometimes jeeps require a little maintenance ;)
Another favorite outdoor activity is "driving" my car.
We sit in the car in the driveway no less than 30
minutes a day while he pushes every button and
lever and asks, "What's dis called?" a million times.
Now every time we actually have to go somewhere
I have to battle him over who gets to drive us there.
He cannot understand why he can't drive us around
on errands!
"What's dis called?"
He's very descriptive and demonstrative
these days. Here he is in the middle of
telling me all about something haha ;)
So serious
"Going FAST!!!"
This is what the dogs do the whole time.
They can't stand not being involved in
whatever we're doing.
Anything his Dada is doing he has to be doing too :)
They have made it a weekend tradition
to go run errands together on Saturday
mornings. It makes them both so happy.
It is so sweet!
Speaking of sweet...
We've only been to the playground a few times
in the last few months. Usually my reason for
taking him is so he can play with other kids but
in this cold weather no one else is crazy enough
to be there so there's not much reason for
us to either. I did want to share this picture
of one of our trips. There was no one else
there to play with as usual so I got him to play
hide and seek with me. This is him trying to
keep his eyes closed while I hid. He said,
"Closing eyes -- too hard!" haha :)
I know it's so healthy for kids to play outside so I just can't stand to force him to stay in. Although I will say that spring cannot get here soon enough!!
